Scryer Daniel
29th of First Seed, Year 743 CR
Operational Details
Mission conducted in accordance with standard procedures. Source was a 25 year old female performing services as a tavern maid in the target location. Scryer located Source through reflecting bowl and monitored Source’s experience throughout the encounter using an immersive technique. Contact with Source was terminated once Scryer determined continued monitoring would not yield any further valuable information.
Information Collected
Source entered the private office area where Master Visra, hereafter referred to as Subject 1, had already been seated. Source could not recall how many drinks Subject 1 had already consumed, but did not want to serve any more. Subject 1 had become belligerent and Source demonstrated hesitancy when approaching the table.
Source was pushed from behind and stumbled forward a step. Source turned to see an unidentified man, approximately 35 years old, hereafter referred to as Subject 2. Subject 2 approached the table; Subject 1 did not rise to greet him. Source asked Subject 2 if he needed anything. Subject 2 requested a glass of dark spirits. Source advised Subject 2 that the establishment did not have glasses and the spirits would come in a ceramic mug. Subject 2 agreed. Source left the room.
Source returned to the room with the mug of spirits to find Subject 1 and Subject 2 engaged in discourse. Details of the discourse were recorded by Scryer as follows:
Subject 1: “You’re developing a reputation for yourself in the eastern corridor.”
Subject 2: “It wasn’t easy but yes, that’s been our focus. We have established our supply line and can provide you with…”
Subject 1 (interrupting Subject 2): “Stop.”
Subject 1 nodded toward Source. Subject 2 nodded.
Subject 1: “What are you asking?”
Subject 2: “Distribution rights within the city.”
Subject 1 (laughing): “Not happening. You can’t even keep the Lord out of your pocket, we’re not interested in partnering with amateurs.”
Subject 2: “We have an arrangement with the Lord, that won’t be a concern.”
Subject 1: “Perhaps, but you’re asking for distribution in the city. This is our city. We built it. We are going to keep it.”
Subject 2 (irritated): “Look, we respect your House tremendously, that’s why we’re coming to you. I think we can work something out that’ll benefit everyone.”
Subject 1: “We won’t give you distribution rights, that’s a line. But perhaps, we can distribute for you.”
Subject 2: “At what tribute cost?”
Subject 1: “Fifty-percent of final prices.”
Subject 2: “No fucking way.”
Subject 1 shrugged. Subject 2 remained quiet for a moment.
Subject 1: “What if I sweeten the deal?”
Subject 2: “In what way?”
Subject 1: “In a personal way.”
Subject 1 sipped from the cup on the table. He held his fingers up and beckoned Source to move closer. Source’s hesitation was viscerally observed by Scryer. Source moved closer. Subject 1 gripped Source’s arm, turned her around toward to face Subject 2.
Scryer felt Subject 1 pull Source’s dress down over her right arm. Scryer felt air on exposed skin. Scryer felt Source’s heartbeat accelerate. Scryer weighed disengagement protocol but elected to continue mission.
Subject 2 grinned. Subject 2 sipped from his cup.
Subject 2: “We’ll get product to the docks, then your House handles logistics and distribution from there.”
Subject 1: “We expect accommodations in the eastern territory.”
Subject 2 nodded.
Subject 2: “And I assume this (pause) gesture of good will is an invitation I can take advantage of whenever I desire?”
Subject 1: “Starting whenever you want.”
Subject 2 stepped forward. Subject 2 reached for Source with one hand.
Scryer executed disengagement protocol and disconnected from Source’s experience.
Scryer Assessment
No immediate threat to Imperial assets or stability.
Scryer recommends continued surveillance of Subject 1 as a primary resource within Timbur Deep. Scryer also recommends continued surveillance of Subject 2 and coordination with local authorities to provide accommodation as necessary to maintain rapport between the two Houses. This will ensure continuity of intelligence flow while minimizing risk of new and unknown actors emerging.
